Seeking Aerial and Acrobalance teachers for regular classes and master classes 2015

ROGUEPLAY ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING AERIAL AND ACROBALANCE TEACHERS FOR REGULAR CLASSES AND MASTER CLASSES.
We are keen to hear from artists from a variety of disciplines but are particularly seeking aerial hoop, rope, handstand and acrobalance teachers for regular weekly class delivery from January 2015. We are also keen to hear from artists from other disciplines who are interested in delivering one-off master classes.
RoguePlay is Birmingham’s Highly Physical Theatre Company, producing and performing Circus Theatre. Producing work nationally and internationally, RoguePlay’s work captures new stories through stunning Aerial Circus, Acrobatics, Poetry and Dance. RoguePlay also run an extensive education and community programme with classes running from their home; The West Midlands Creation Centre in Birmingham. Our classes aim to challenge and inspire young people and adults, and are disability accessible. RoguePlay prides itself on the high quality of our teaching work. We are committed to making aerial work accessible to everyone, and so our teachers are trained to work with those with a variety of physical disabilities and a number of our teachers are also BSL trained.
Successful candidates will have a passion for their discipline, a keen interest in circus performance and a commitment to circus training for all. They will be strong communicators who enjoy working collaboratively and have a clear willingness to share information. This is a hands-on job, which includes working directly with class participants of a variety of ages and abilities, whilst maintaining administration including session registers and dealing with class payments.
Aerial Hoop required Monday evenings 6.30-8pm followed by Conditioning & Flexibility 8-9pm. Handstands & Acrobalance Thursday evenings 6.30-8pm followed by Mixed Ability Rope 8-9.30pm.
Regular class teachers are paid at a rate of £15 p/h, and successful candidates may well be offered more classes as well as cover teaching in other disciplines.
RoguePlay are developing a programme of master classes in a variety of disciplines to be offered throughout the year as one-off workshops.
Masterclasses are paid on a one-off session rate depending on experience and expertees.
Unless otherwise stated, teachers are expected to make a commitment to the programme and ensure that they are available for the times that they are scheduled to teach. We encourage artists to apply for this post with the understanding that they are able to manage their own workload and prioritise this area of their work.
1. Proven track record of delivering workshops in a variety of settings
2. At least one year teaching experience, including experience of working with different age groups
3. A passion for the circus arts and a strong skills specialism
4. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate to a wide range of people.
5. The ability to work co-operatively with others as part of a team.
6. Interest in teaching people with special needs.
7. Experience of health and safety in circus training
8. Applicants must be self-employed and provide a UTR number. A DBS check is desirable although successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check.
