Take part in an exciting new outdoor circus project!
No experience necessary- train with us, rehearse with us and perform with us!
PARK LIFE is a brand new outdoor Circus Theatre performance being developed by RoguePlay in Birmingham. We are seeking 12 participants to take part in training, rehearsals and performances alongside RoguePlay’s professional performance team.
Participants must be based in the West Midlands, be available for the dates listed below and aged 19+. No circus experience is necessary, but a basic level of physical fitness is an advantage. We are seeking participants of all abilities and ages- there is no upper age limit!
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop new skills in Aerial and Ground based Circus, Dance and Theatre and share them with audiences in the region at Small Heath Park, Walkers Heath and Eastside Park; Birmingham.
You will be part of our creative team, working to develop an exciting new outdoor performance, led by professional Circus and Physical Theatre artists.
We will train and support you to develop suitable skills to become part of the performance team.
This is an unpaid training opportunity, but we will cover reasonable participant travel expenses during the process, and provide lunches on performance days.
We will be holding an open audition day in Birmingham on SATURDAY 22ND FEBRUARY, which will be a great chance to find out if this is the right project for you and for us to get to know you and your abilities and passions. Selection will be based on participant’s ability to commit to the project dates and their passion and interest in the project. No experience is necessary. Download an audition registration form here.
PARK LIFE will be a visually striking piece of Circus Theatre with a strong but simple narrative, played out through Circus Acts, Dance and Physical Theatre sequences. The project is being led by RoguePlay Theatre with support from the Birmingham Rep and Active Parks and funded by Birmingham City Council.
RoguePlay is recruiting 12 local people to undertake a 3-week training programme in Circus, Dance and Physical Theatre built around their own availability and physical training needs. Participants will then take part in a further 3-week rehearsal and development process, in order to build a 20-30 minute performance piece alongside the professional artists for six outdoor performances in Small Heath, Walkers Heath and Eastside parks.
Participants have the opportunity to develop skills in Aerial, ground based Circus, Contemporary Dance and Physical Theatre and so RoguePlay are looking for participants interested in developing their skills in at least one (but not all) of these areas.
The Open Audition Day will take place on Saturday 22nd February 2014 from 12.30-4pm. It will be your opportunity to meet the artists involved who will workshop you in a variety of exercises involving Circus, Dance and Physical Theatre. You will need to wear comfortable clothing and bring water for the day. Clothing should cover the armpits and knees.
Dates: The specific dates listed below are essential, they are rehearsal and performance dates and you must be able to commit to them. The training and mid-rehearsal schedule will be more flexible and built around availability.
