Well, RoguePlay have had a great first year in their new studio home at Minerva Works. When we moved in one year ago today there was no paint on the walls and nothing on the floor except for a huge amount of car grease and polystyrene balls from a previous one-off performance. So after lots of sliding around and throwing polystyrene at one another we had a painting party to paint the place, was successful with some funding from Birmingham City Council's Enterprise Catalyst Fund and subsequently kitted the place out with 90 sq. m's of dance floor, an aerial training rig, jiu jitsu mats, crash mats and some little bits of lighting and sound. None of that meant anything in the winter months however when the space was cold enough to keep the milk cold without the need for a fridge, and so our prized possession is our trust-worthy studio heater!
So, now what do we have? Well, we have been blessed with a huge amount of support and commitment from those who engage with us and as a result have a well attended, fully functional rehearsal and training studio. We have had theatre companies, bands, film makers, circus goers, theatre bods and a great audience pass through our doors in the first year and we are so excited to go into the second one! Thanks to everyone who has supported us and please keep talking about us.
