Lorna's role at RoguePlay is as Performer, Writer and Co-Creative Director. 'What inspires me most about the work we do is the merging of text with physical theatre to create narrative, whether that be with an existing or original text. I particular enjoy modernising existing classic texts with contemporary art forms.' Lorna is passionate about inspiring and communicating with people via poetry which explores theatrical and narrative elements, which forms a crucial part of RoguePlay's trademark style work.
Since graduating from De Montfort University with a Degree in Performing Arts and an MA in Contemporary Theatre over ten years ago, Lorna has worked as a professional freelance Actor, Performance Poet and Theatre Practitioner.
Working with Companies such as The Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust, Women and Theatre, Stan's Cafe and Outspoken, she has also performed at national events and festivals such as Glastonbury and Ledbury Poetry Festival, and worked for Apples and Snakes as a featured act, host and a workshop facilitator.
Lorna is also a Playwright. Her solo show 'Brazen' performed at TILT Festival 2019 and is touring 2020. 'Inspired by a deep connection to Jim Morrison and his band The Doors, 'Brazen' explores our complicated relationship with bravery, the transformative power of music and how sometimes, the wildest thing you can do is be vulnerable.'
Her Spoken Word focuses around themes of confession, trauma and hope, and she enjoys subverting the roles of the performer and their audience.
