About RoguePlay
Physical Theatre plus New Writing equals charming pieces of work...
RoguePlay Theatre is one of the leading Birmingham Theatre Companies writing and performing exciting new theatre works, and is based at Birmingham’s Old Fire Station. Combining
new
writing
, physical theatre and improvisation we create energetic and often site-responsive performance, and over the last 12 months have performed throughout the UK, delivered an extensive educational programme and have established a great following of loyal artists and audiences alike. We were the first Theatre Company to create a programme of work for the Custard Factory Theatre, which we manage and now renamed; The Mixing Bowl during 2009-2010. We have now moved to The Old Fire Station which we hope will in due course become an artistic hub for creative companies throughout Birmingham.
Our pieces are fast-paced, innovative, hard work, but always playful, and we are inspired by Companies like Knee High and Frantic Assembly.
The Rogues have worked with Companies like Stan’s Café, Women and Theatre and the BBC. Behind the scenes the Rogues also include our Artistic Director; Kim Charnock, Company Administrator; Collette Mason, Marketing and Education Officer; Lydia Martin and Associate Artist; Lorna Meehan.
We
offer
educational projects
in schools and the community, and work with Primary up to College level.
We
are the Associate Theatre Company of the South Birmingham College, run the Birmingham branch of The Young Actors Company and actively work with our community ,
We have a passion for the development of new and innovative work which encompasses the ethos of The Engine Room Theatre itself. By staging new work alongside more established artists and Companies, the Theatre and its programme provides a reputable and professional platform. So if you are just starting out with your own Company then we'll be able to support you with affordable and well-managed space. And if you're an artist then we would love to hear from you so do
drop us an e mail
