RoguePlay are currently taking bookings for their new piece of Road Safety work entitled CRASH, and as a result of public funding we can offer performance and workshop to schools for just £280.

In Moseley, just around the corner from where RoguePlay Theatre is based, a fatal accident involving a 14 year old Brazilian girl happened. This young girl was a good personal friend of RoguePlay's Artistic Director, Kim Charnock, and had previously undertaken work experience with the Company. The accident occured as a result of speeding and dangerous driving, and this particular bend in Moseley has been witness to a number of similiar accidents. CRASH follows the narrative of that fatal night and what the effects of losing a daughter so suddenly have on family and friends alike.

RoguePlay are now taking bookings for the piece including a follow-up workshop for up to 30 students, from January 23rd-February 10th. The performance runs for 55 mins and the follow-up workshop is 45 mins. (Although this can be adjusted to suit your school timetable). A performance and workshop take a half day and the cost is £280, for a full day with two performances and workshops the cost is £425.

CRASH is a poignant piece of Theatre aimed at 14-17 year olds, raising awareness and encouraging our young people to stay safe on the roads.

To book or enquire further please contact Kim Charnock on info@rogueplay.co.uk or Tel: 07746 327284.

SCHOOL/COLLEGE WORKSHOPS:
Full Day: £220 / Half Day: £140

(Longer projects/more facilitators on negotiation.)

PHYSICAL THEATRE: (Secondary and College only): Working with emotion, improvisation, physical and vocal exploration of text. This workshop aids pupil understanding of how to use the body in performance and how to develop performative material through an experimental medium. Physical theatre is a tool for discovering many areas of the curriculum, including: Maths, English, Languages, History and PSHE.

DRAMA: (Primary) Understanding literature and texts; the group will discover and develop characters, storylines and dialogue using masks, drama games and costume. Through this, they will gain confidence, develop speaking and listening skills and drama can be intergrated into many areas of the curriculum, such as Maths, English, History and PSHE.

CREATIVE WRITING: Script construction, character development, form, narrative, language and rhythm. Everything to get the creative juices flowing and the pen on the paper.

CAPOEIRA: Led by Contra Mestre Israel from Grupo Renascer, Capoeira is a Brazilian art form involving defense (escapes), offense (kicks) and acrobatics. Great for fitness and co-ordination, Capoeira is a good way of engaging the boys in particular in a new art form.

Students will learn the movements of Capoeira, be introduced to the instruments used for playing, learn the names of movements in portuguese and be able to play a traditional Capoeira 'roda', (where the game of Capoeira is played between two people inside a circle of others) by the end of the session. The workshop length can be adjusted between one hour and half a day to suit your own needs and is run by two facilitators. It costs £220 for half a day or £300 for a full day.

REGULAR 'IN-HOUSE' COURSES

YOUNG ROGUES: DO YOU WANT TO BE AN ACTOR?
Well the Young Rogues are a group of young people from a variety of backgrounds, who perform on stage and in film and TV.

The Young Rogues meet every Saturday during term time and develop work and skills for public stage performance in Birmingham. We also work with a casting agent named The Young Actors Company who specialise in young people in TV and Film. That's not to say you would be out filming every week, but if it's an industry you want to get into then you will need an agent, and The Young Actors Company have been specialising in young people for nearly 30 years. You will have a webpage with professional photographs and voicereel created and then you are open for auditions and castings.

The focus however is on stage performance, and we perform almost every term around professional venues in Birmingham. To add to their most recent list of credits, the Young Rogues have performed at the International Youth Arts Festival in London July just gone, as well as will be performing at ArtsFest in Birmingham in September.

'The Young Actors Company has opened up a world of opportunity for me, giving me the chance to improve my future prospects.' (Hugo Thompson, Young Actor)

If you are interested in auditioning you need to drop us an e mail or give us a call to book a place.
Auditions take place at the home of the Young Rogues, which is South Birmingham College, Digbeth. About 10 mins walk from the city centre. Membership costs £169 per 11 week term which includes subscription to the casting agency, photos and voicereel. NEXT AUDITIONS: 14TH JANUARY AND 3RD MARCH 2012.

PLAYWRIGHT'S COURSE:

FROM IDEA TO PERFORMANCE.......DO YOU WANT TO BE A WRITER?

Our scriptwriting course is an 8-week course that culminates in a rehearsed public reading by professional actors.

Kim Charnock has been writing for RoguePlay, amongst other Theatre Companies, for a number of years and her work has been performed and toured across the country. Writers will work with Kim through a series of writing seminars and workshops focusing in detail on form, structure, narrative, characterisation, stimuli and dramatic action. Whether you are at the beginning of exploring your writing of whether you have produced some writing in the past, this course will help find your style and give you the tools you need to broaden your ideas as well as provide a comprehensive guide to England's Literary Managers and how you get your work to them.

It will run every Tuesday from 6-8.30pm upstairs at The Patrick Kavanagh Pub, Woodbridge Road, Moseley.
The next course starts on Tuesday January 17th and runs for 8 weeks. At the close of the course there will be a break for you to develop your work for a public rehearsed reading later in the year by RoguePlay's professional actors. This reading gives you the valuable time needed to see your work performed and gain feedback from an experienced audience.

Session fee: £120 for the full course including the rehearsed reading. To book your place there is a deposit of £25. Book online now by clicking 'buy tickets'. Limited places available.
